Acyclovir is a drug that is classified as an antiviral drug. Acyclovir against many of the herpes virus. This medicine is not an effective cure for herpes, but it does help your symptoms. The different types of herpes acyclovir covered include genital herpes, herpes simplex is a sore on the lips, chickenpox and herpes virus known as Herpes Zoster.

Like any medication, Acyclovir does have potential side effects with it. Side effects that are more serious are, not urinating anymore, lower back pain, bruising easily and also bleeding, and feeling terribly lethargic. If these side effects appear while taking Acyclovir, see your doctor quickly.

Other less serious effects are, upset stomach and vomiting, headaches and stomach pains, and noticeable hands and feet swelling. All side effects whether they are serious or not need reporting to your doctor.
